About

Engineer | Marathoner | Curator Driven by Craft and Community

I'm Selam, a software engineer where my work lives at the intersection of design and human-centered ethics.

I find my flow in the details - the process of translating a static, two-dimensional design into something tangible, interactive, and resilient. To me, the craft lies in ensuring this transition preserves the aesthetic intent while upholding the technical integrity of the system, resulting in interfaces that are as inclusive as they are precise.

This same intentionality carries into my life away from the screen. Whether I am testing my limits as a marathoner or experimenting with the shared experience of a curated dinner party, I am driven by a love for community-building and the curiosity to see how far a well-crafted idea can go.

Core Technical Values

  • Responsible Product Thinking

Design and engineering decisions should be accountable, explainable, and centered on human impact.

Accessibility, inclusion, and ethical tradeoffs are product quality requirements - not afterthoughts.

  • Design Engineering Craft

I prototype fast, think in systems, and translate ambiguity into working software.

From interaction ideas to production-ready components, I bridge design intent and technical execution.

  • Systems That Scale

Build modular, adaptable systems that hold up under iteration speed, product pressure, and growth. Good architecture enables teams to move faster - not slower.

Miles and Smiles

Running is my moving meditation. It is where I simplify hard problems, reset perspective, and come back to work with better questions and steadier focus.

Community Anchors

Being part of a community grounds me, clears my head, and pushes me to show up as my best self. The lessons of resilience, consistency, and collaboration I gain from shared effort carry into everything I do. As an engineer, this mindset helps me tackle challenges thoughtfully, work seamlessly with others, and approach every project with clarity and care.
